a unique collaboration
When you step into a Xoop Homes cottage, one of the first things you’ll notice is the art. Bright, expressive, and full of life, these paintings are more than decorations—they are part of our story.
These paintings mean so much to me. Edison and I have known each other since we were children, and over the years I’ve watched him turn blank canvases into pieces that feel alive. When it came time to decorate the cottages, there was no one else I wanted to bring this vision to life but Ed. As a lifelong friend whose work has always been close to my heart, Edison’s Art was my only choice. His brushstrokes tell stories—stories of the sea breeze at sunset, egrets on a lagoon (this you would have to see for yourself), market women relaxing, and the everyday joy of island living.
INtense preparation before actually doing the work
What makes these paintings extra special is that Edison visited the cottages before he started painting. We spent time walking through each space, talking about what we wanted guests to feel when they stayed with us. Together, we decided on a theme: a Caribbean homey feel. We were intensional!
This is why each painting you see at Xoop Homes belongs to the space it hangs in. The colors and textures reflect the rooms they live in, adding warmth and authenticity that make our cottages truly unique – something warm and full of stories.

The Language of Color at Xoop Homes
At Xoop Homes, color is more than palette—it is a feeling. Working closely with Edison Liburd, we thought carefully about how each painting’s colors would live in our cottages. Edison’s gift is not just in the subjects he paints, but in the way he places color to guide the eye and set the mood.
In the living spaces, warm, sunlit tones welcome you in, one of our cottages echoes a golden beach while another shows off a soft evening glow of Antigua. In the bedrooms, you’ll find cooler yellows and oranges, chosen to calm the senses and bring the peace of the sea indoors. Throughout each cottage, splashes of bright Caribbean color—tangerine, gold and amber—are placed deliberately to add rhythm and joy, like music on a canvas.
This intentional placement of color creates a flow: each room feels different, yet the whole home feels connected, giving guests a subtle, immersive sense of place. It’s one of the reasons our cottages don’t just look Caribbean—they feel Caribbean.

About Edison Arts
Edison Liburd is one of Antigua’s treasured artists. With a background in fine arts and decades of work, Edison has exhibited across the Caribbean and internationally. His paintings often feature vibrant colors and fluid movement, celebrating the beauty, resilience, and soul of Caribbean people and places. Through Edison Arts, he continues to mentor young artists and contribute to Antigua’s cultural identity.
Educated at Antigua Grammar School, he enriched his artistic foundation at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama. He further honed his craft in the United States at Atlantic Union College, the Pratt Institute of Technology, and the Art Students League in New York . Upon returning to Antigua, Edison established Edison Arts Gallery and later launched The Music and Art Annex, a creative studio and classroom dedicated to mentoring young creatives in visual arts and music.
For us, it was only natural to bring that spirit into Xoop Homes. The result is a collection that blends comfort and culture, making every stay with us feel like a warm, welcoming embrace from the islands.
When you stay at Xoop Homes, take a moment to pause in front of these canvases. You’ll see that each painting tells a story—and now, it becomes part of yours too.
